Reversal of the tax on holiday lettings

The Chancellor is expected to reverse Labour’s 200m raid on the self-catering industry.
It will mean landlords who let out holiday accommodation will again be able to offset the cost of furniture and fittings against tax. They will also pay reduced capital gains tax when they sell.
The Tourism Alliance had warned that Labour's decision to repeal the furnished holiday lettings rule risked 4,500 jobs.
The body argued that holiday lets had more in common with hotels and bed & breakfasts which are ordinarily regarded as trading businesses, than they do with residential properties which are ordinarily regarded as investment businesses.
